Research Group for Cancer Normalization

Research Activity

Fig.1.

Our group started in April, 2009.

When normal cells are transformed and become cancer cells, they can get the abnormal proliferative ability and then can infiltrate into surrounding tissues and metastasize to other tissue dependent on their malignancy elevation. Existing cancer therapy aims mainly for disappearance or reduction of primary and/or metastatic focus. Kinds of methods are a surgical resection, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, and antiangiogenic treatment. Recently, cancer-specific molecularly-targeted drugs are well developed and show a certain level of effect on therapy. Actually, outcome from cancer therapy goes up gradually by progression of technologies and development of novel drugs. However, anyone has not shown an accomplishment of permanent cure or an epochal life prolongation yet and needs of this cancer therapy field are not satisfied.

Therefore, our group studies how cancer cells, which shows malignancy, are re-normalized in some way and attempts to generate a novel concept for cancer therapy.
